Why use it

What a dedicated replay simulator adds

  1. Free intraday replay

TradingView's free plan replays daily and higher bars only; minute-level replay starts on paid plans. ForexThrive's free game replays from 1-minute bars on every intraday timeframe, on TradingView's Advanced Charts library.

  2. Replay that runs into live data

On the prepaid plan a replay can end up to a year in the future. At the present it switches to 1-minute-delayed live data — the same session, balance, and statistics — so a backtest becomes a forward test.

  3. Costs and rules of a real account

Every fill pays spread and commission, overnight positions pay swap from historical central-bank rates, and a maximum-drawdown limit ends the game the way a blown account — or a failed prop challenge — would.

  4. Statistics built for backtesting

Every replayed trade is recorded with equity, drawdown, and live analytics, and exports to CSV — the evidence you need to decide whether a strategy has an edge.

Fair comparison

When TradingView's replay is the better choice

  • You backtest stocks, indices, or non-FX futures — TradingView covers a far wider symbol universe.
  • You need seconds or tick replay — available on TradingView's Premium and Ultimate plans.
  • You want replay inside the chart you already use for live trading, ideas, and alerts.

If you trade FX majors, crypto, or FX futures intraday and want to practice and measure a strategy without paying for minute data, ForexThrive's free backtesting game is built for it. Comparing replay tools? See ForexThrive vs FX Replay.

FAQ

TradingView bar replay questions

  • Is bar replay free on TradingView?

Partly. TradingView's free Basic plan includes Bar Replay on daily and higher timeframes, with trading during replay. Minute-level replay needs a paid plan: Essential ($14.95 per month) replays about 180 days of minute data, Plus about a year, and Premium and Ultimate the full history, as listed on TradingView's pricing page on September 29, 2026.

  • Why is TradingView bar replay not working or greyed out?

The most common reasons are the chart type and the plan. Replay isn't available on spreads or formulas, Renko, Kagi, Point & Figure, Range, Line Break, Volume Footprint, TPO, or charts converted to another currency. On the free plan, intraday timeframes can't be replayed at all. Switch to a single symbol, standard candles, and the default currency — or use a daily timeframe.

  • Can I replay 1-minute forex charts for free?

Yes, in ForexThrive. The free plan's backtesting game (February 22 – May 23, 2022) replays from 1-minute bars on any intraday timeframe, with FX, crypto, and FX futures, 40+ indicators, and trading during replay. The prepaid plan opens any dates across 15+ years.

  • Does ForexThrive use TradingView charts?

Yes. The simulator's charts are built on TradingView's Advanced Charts library, so the drawing tools, indicators, and chart handling will feel familiar. The replay engine, order fills, costs, and statistics are ForexThrive's own.

  • Is ForexThrive affiliated with TradingView?

No. ForexThrive licenses TradingView's charting library for its charts but is an independent product, not affiliated with or endorsed by TradingView. This page compares the two using TradingView's publicly listed plans.
