Know your odds before you pay for a prop challenge.
Most challenges are failed by risk sizing, not by the strategy. Enter your win rate, reward:risk, and the firm's rules to see how often you'd pass across 10,000 simulated challenges — then practice the same rules on real market replay, where hitting the maximum drawdown ends the game just like a failed evaluation.
Prop firm challenge pass-rate calculator
Losses and gains are measured against the starting balance, as most challenges do. Everything runs in your browser.
Rehearse the challenge on real market replay
A calculator can't teach discipline. Replay lets you trade the rules — and feel the drawdown — before real money is on the line.
-
Set the firm's max loss
The free game already uses a fixed 10% maximum drawdown — the same as many challenges. On the prepaid plan, set your firm's exact limit when you create a game.
-
Match the account and costs
Prepaid games take your starting balance, leverage, spread, and commission, so position sizes and costs match the challenge account.
-
Replay the challenge window
Pick any stretch of history — or run a game past today into 1-minute-delayed live data — and trade it bar by bar under the same rules.
-
Track the daily limit and target
The simulator ends the game at max drawdown. Watch the daily loss limit and profit target yourself in the account panel — the calculator above shows how often they bite.
Read why max drawdown is the game-over metric and how bracket orders keep every trade's risk fixed.
Prop firm challenge questions
-
What is a prop firm challenge simulator?
It's a way to rehearse a funded-trader evaluation before paying for one: you trade historical or live-like data under the same rules — profit target, maximum loss, daily loss limit, time limit — so you learn whether your strategy and risk sizing can pass without risking a challenge fee.
-
How is the pass rate calculated?
The calculator runs 10,000 simulated challenges in your browser. Each trade wins with your win rate and pays your reward:risk multiple, or loses one unit of risk. A run passes on reaching the profit target and fails on breaching the maximum loss or daily limit, or on running out of days. Real trades aren't independent coin flips, so treat the result as a guide.
-
Which challenge rules does ForexThrive enforce?
A backtesting game enforces the maximum drawdown: when equity falls past the limit, the game is over, exactly like a failed challenge. Profit targets, daily loss limits, and minimum trading days aren't enforced automatically — track them in the account panel, which shows equity, drawdown, and balance as you trade.
-
Can I practice a prop firm challenge for free?
Yes. The free plan's backtesting game has a fixed 10% maximum drawdown, the same maximum loss many challenges use, on real February–May 2022 market data with FX, crypto, and FX futures. The prepaid plan lets you set any drawdown limit, balance, leverage, and dates.
-
What risk per trade gives the best chance to pass?
Usually less than traders expect. Risking more reaches the target in fewer trades but makes a losing streak far more likely to breach the daily or maximum loss. Use the calculator with your real win rate and reward:risk, and compare 0.5%, 1%, and 2% — the pass rate often peaks well below the risk that reaches the target fastest.
